Reading the table
Three things stand out. First, only suites have balconies; the hotel's FAQ says it in as many words. If you want to stand outside with a coffee and watch the boats come in, the cheapest way to do it is the Deluxe Suite.
Second, only the Deluxe Room lists children in its occupancy. The others list two adults, which matters if you are travelling as a family of three or four.
Third, views are described room by room, but the FAQ adds that not every room has a guaranteed view. Treat a view in a description as likely, not certain.
Rooms without a balcony
Deluxe Room · from $255
Teal, brown and burnt-orange styling, a king or two doubles, and the only listing that makes room for two children.
Resort Room · from $285
The hotel's 'Miss Popularity', styled after the traditional Queenslander, with Magnetic Island or Castle Hill outside.
Executive Room · from $340
A stand-alone bath and a waterfall shower behind glass, looking over the Coral Sea or the city.
Suites and the apartment
Deluxe Suite · from $405
First three floors, a lounge room, two televisions and a personal balcony with partial ocean and marina views.
Resort Suite · from $460
Spa bath, walk-in shower and a marina-facing balcony; the hotel calls the look luxuriously retro.
Executive Suite · from $490
Magnetic Island from the bed, and a balcony over the marina, the city and Castle Hill.
Two Bedroom Apartment · from $615
Two bedrooms, a dining table and a kitchenette with an espresso machine.
Pelorus Suite · from $650
The top floor, over 100 square metres, and a spa bath facing the Strand and Castle Hill.
Extra beds and children
Rollaway beds cost $50 a night and go into king rooms and suites only, subject to availability. Portacots are free, again subject to availability. Interconnecting and family configurations exist but the hotel calls them limited and asks you to ring Reservations to lock one in. If you send the request through us, we raise the family need first, before we talk about the rate.
What every room page lists
Each of the eight room pages lists complimentary wifi, individually controlled air conditioning and cable television with pay-per-view movies. The facilities page adds daily housekeeping, same-day laundry, a seamstress, in-room dining, a minibar, on-demand movies and do-it-yourself tea and coffee.
How many rooms in all?
The current hotel website does not print a total. Wikipedia gives 194 rooms, citing an older version of the hotel's About page, so treat that number as secondary. Ardo, the Morris Group hotel next door, lists 132 rooms and suites of its own; we compare the two on The Ville or Ardo?
