Banning yourself from a venue
In Queensland you can exclude yourself from a gambling venue. Gambling Help Queensland describes the process:
At the venue
Ask for the Customer Liaison Officer or a self-exclusion assistant. They take or ask for a recent photo, guide you through the forms and give you local support contacts.
Without going in
A Gambling Help Queensland counsellor can arrange a remote self-exclusion from one or more venues and send the paperwork for you.
When it starts
After a 24-hour cooling-off period.
How long
In-person exclusions last five years. You can apply to revoke one after at least 12 months.
If it is breached
You will be asked to leave and the incident is reported to the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, which may fine you; a venue that fails to keep you out can also be fined. The venue keeps a confidential register.
At The Ville
The casino says it operates under the Queensland Responsible Gambling Code of Practice. Its Safer Gambling Team can be reached on (07) 4722 2333 in business hours, or through any casino staff member. It offers self-exclusion and venue-initiated exclusion, and remote exclusion through an agreement with Centacare North Queensland (1300 NQCARE, 1300 672 273). ATMs are kept out of the gaming areas, members can set pre-commitment limits, and there are clocks on the machines and on the floor. Entry is for adults 18 and over only.
Where this site stands
- We describe the casino only so that guests know the rules of the building. We do not encourage anyone to gamble.
- We carry no gambling advertising and take no money from gambling businesses.
- The casino is 18+, and so is everything on this site about it.
Not sure whether gambling is becoming a problem? Gambling Help Queensland has a short quiz, "How risky is my gambling?", on its website.
