What sets it apart
The hotel's own description is short and specific: sleek rooms with a stand-alone bath and a waterfall shower, a glass partition between bathroom and room, and views over the Coral Sea or the CBD. It is also the first room type on the list with premium bathroom amenities.
The rest is the standard kit: LCD television with cable and pay-per-view, individually controlled air conditioning, a snack bar and fridge, free wifi and a safe.
The sum we would do
At $340 from, it sits $65 below the Deluxe Suite. That suite gives you a balcony and a separate lounge but sits on the first three floors with partial views. The Executive Room gives you the bath and, if the sea side comes up, the wider outlook. If you will spend your evenings in the room, take the suite. If you will spend them at Miss Songs and come back for a long bath, take this one.
Worth asking
Sea or city?
The hotel offers either. The city side looks over the CBD; the sea side looks out over the Coral Sea. We ask for the one you want.
King or two doubles?
Both are listed. Colleagues sharing a room may prefer the doubles; we will check which is free.
Arriving early from a flight?
Early check-in depends on room readiness; luggage can wait at reception while you head for the pool.
