The bearing, in one paragraph
The Ville earns its place on location. It sits on the breakwater with the marina on one side and open water on the other, close enough to walk to the island ferry and into the city centre. It also packs a lot of resort under one roof: an infinity-edge pool with a swim-up bar, a gym that opens at 5am, a day spa, six bars and restaurants and a front desk that never closes. What you trade away is quiet. A casino, a sports bar open into the early hours, an event pavilion for up to 1,000 people and a convention centre all share the address.
It suits
Island-hoppers
The hotel puts the Magnetic Island terminal within walking distance, and SeaLink's crossing takes about 20 minutes. The island works as a day trip with dinner back on the breakwater.
Pool people
Open 7am to 7pm every day, heated to 25 degrees in winter, with cabanas, a sun deck and a swim-up bar. It is the centre of the resort, and in-house guests use it without a day pass.
Concert and game nights
For listed stadium concerts the hotel runs a free return bus from its own door. The convention centre, where several of the listed shows play, is next door.
Road-trippers
Outdoor parking is free, subject to availability, across 300 spaces by the hotel's count, and valet costs $15 a day.
Think twice if
You turn in early
The casino trades until 4am Sunday to Thursday and 5am on Friday and Saturday, and the Sports Bar keeps the same hours. Mention it in your request and we will raise room placement with the hotel.
You are four in one room
Only the Deluxe Room lists children in its occupancy (two adults, two children). Every other category lists two adults. Family configurations exist but the hotel calls them limited.
You are under 18
The hotel requires guests to be 18 or older to book and to stay without a legal guardian.
You need set accessibility features
The hotel does not publish accessible-room details such as roll-in showers. We will ask for you, but we cannot promise anything the hotel has not written down.
The rooms we would choose
For a first stay at a fair price, the Resort Room from $285, which the hotel describes with views of either Magnetic Island or Castle Hill. Its FAQ adds that not every room has a guaranteed view, so ask.
For a balcony at the lowest outlay, the Deluxe Suite from $405. It is on the first three floors, so the hotel promises partial ocean and marina views rather than the full sweep.
For an occasion, the Resort Suite from $460: spa bath, walk-in shower and a marina-facing balcony, $190 a night below the Pelorus Suite.
What the hotel leaves unanswered
No pet policy. No accessible-room details. No total room count on the current site; Wikipedia gives 194 rooms, citing an older hotel page. A two-bedroom apartment listed for two adults. Spa hours that do not say which of the spa's two studios they belong to. We print none of these as fact and flag each one where it matters.
How we reached this
We read the hotel's pages one at a time on 31 October 2026, then the council's pages for the Strand and Castle Hill, Townsville Airport's transport page and Breakwater Marina's site, and we checked the pin on Google Maps. Nobody paid for this verdict and we do not hand out stars. How the site does earn money is on Follow the money; who we are is on About us.
